We, the family of the late Bernie Gallagher, would like to extend our sincere and heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has offered their condolences in person in Louisburgh and Newcastle, by phone, online and through letters and cards of sympathy.
Bernie was taken from us too soon 11 months after the sudden passing of her beloved husband, Brendon. Her sudden passing in Mayo University Hospital, despite the best efforts of the ICU staff there, has come as a terrible shock to Bernie’s entire family. Our deep shock and grief has been comforted by the huge outpouring of condolence from the many friends, work colleagues and family who knew Bernie so well and spoke with such fondness of her gentle kindness and warmth. The family would like to thank the medical professionals who looked after Bernie especially the paramedics and ICU Staff at Mayo University Hospital in Castlebar; the staff at Louisburgh Medical Centre especially Dr. Eileen O’Connor and Dr. Colm Staunton. We extend our sincere thanks to Mr Tom Treacy, Pharmacist in Treacy’s Pharmacy of whom she spoke so fondly of. The family also are sincerely grateful for the generosity and guidance afforded them in the organisation of Bernie’s Funeral, especially to Mr Michael Kilcoyne Undertaker, in Castlebar, Co. Mayo and Mr. Micheál Sawey, Undertaker in Newcastle, Co. Down. We are indebted to Fr Jim Crudden, the Bereavement Team in Newcastle and Ms Anna Moore, singer who provided the most beautiful service in Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Newcastle. Finally, the greatest thanks are reserved for Bernie’s neighbours in Cahir, Louisburgh: to Owen, Íarliath, Fiádh, Maria, Niamh, Mark, Barbara, Gary, Declan, Paddy, Rita, Cathy, Sheila, Anne, Tracy, Ray, Imelda and all the children in her street whom she loved so much and who provided her with support, company and laughter.

MONTH’S MIND MASS
Bernie’s Months Mind Mass and 1st Anniversary Mass for her beloved husband Brendon will be celebrated in St. Patrick’s Church, Louisburgh on Sunday, June 2nd at 11.30am.
All are welcome to attend.
